Government says beautiful homes to be the 'norm'

The Housing Secretary has announced that well-designed, high quality homes and tree-lined streets should be the ‘norm – not the exception’. This follows the launch of a report by the Building Better Building Beautiful Commission. The Government wants to see the speeding up planning for beautiful buildings through a new ‘Fast Track for Beauty’ rule for councils, and increasing democracy and involving communities in local plans and planning applications. Seeing beautiful buildings is therefore likely to be more important in appeals and planning applications in the coming months and years.
